Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 12, 2026
Tether (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Tether mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how that information is used, when it is shared, and the choices available to you.
Depending on how you use Tether, the App may collect and store:
- Account Information: your email address, user ID, and optional profile name when you create an account or sign in.
- Health and Wellness Data: journal entries, symptoms, foods, supplements, recovery activities, conditions, triggers, safe items, sensitivity quiz results, and sensitivity profile data that you enter or generate in the App.
- AI Feature Data: Cortex chat messages, food scan images and results, profile analysis requests, and related context used to generate AI responses.
- App Data and Preferences: bookmarks, codex notes, saved scans, streak data, notification preferences, and similar in-app settings.
- Purchase Information: subscription status and purchase entitlement information provided through Apple, Google Play, and RevenueCat.
Tether collects information in the following ways:
- Directly from you when you create an account, type messages, complete the sensitivity quiz, save notes, scan foods, or log health information.
- Automatically from app use when the App stores your settings, sync state, saved content, and subscription status.
- From service providers used to operate the App, including Supabase for account and synced data storage, RevenueCat for subscription management, and Google Gemini for AI features that you choose to enable.
We use information to:
- provide journaling, tracking, quiz, scan, and profile features;
- sync your saved data across devices when you sign in;
- power Cortex AI chat, food analysis, and profile analysis features;
- manage subscriptions and restore purchases; and
- maintain app functionality, settings, and backups.
4. AI Features and Third-Party Processing
If you choose to enable Cortex AI features, Tether may securely send relevant data to Google Gemini to generate responses and insights.
Depending on the feature you use, that data may include:
- the message or question you submit;
- Cortex conversation history and related conversation context;
- journal entries, symptoms, foods, supplements, or other health and wellness information you have logged;
- sensitivity profile details, conditions, triggers, safe items, quiz results, and related patterns; and
- food scan images, extracted ingredient information, and scan results.
Tether asks for your permission in the App before sending this data to Google Gemini. If you do not grant permission, AI-powered features will not send your data for processing. We require our third-party service providers to protect the data they handle for Tether using safeguards that are the same as or equal to the protections described in this policy.
5. Data Storage and Sharing
Tether stores data locally on your device and, when you sign in, may also store synced app data in your account through Supabase so it can be restored across devices.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate the App and its features, including with:
- Supabase for account services and cloud-synced app data;
- Google Gemini for AI processing that you choose to enable; and
- RevenueCat, Apple, and Google Play for subscription and purchase management.
6. Your Choices
You can:
- choose whether to enable AI processing in the App;
- sign in or use the App without signing in for limited functionality;
- export your data from the App settings;
- delete journal data or clear all local app data from the App settings; and
- request account and associated cloud data deletion by visiting Delete Account.
7. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information handled by the App. Data sent between the App and our service providers is transmitted securely.
8. Children’s Privacy
Tether is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting an updated version with a new “Last Updated” date.
